Doesn’t fit the factory-supplied USB (& charging) cable, December 20, 2011

It seems a serious oversight that this case doesn’t actually fit the cable supplied with my Galaxy Nexus. I have to remove the case to charge the phone or connect it to a computer.

good protection, bad design, December 20, 2011

I’ve had the case for a couple of days now, it seems to provide good protection however as others have indicated the charge/connection port cut out is too small and as such the cable doesn’t go in all the way, meaning you have to remove the case every time you want to charge or synchronize.

Just to be clear I have the LTE Galaxy nexus from verizon which is known to be a little bit thicker than the GSM ver. Personally when looking for a case I look for a couple main qualities. 1) Snug fit 2) Strong protection, 3)Grip
1)Snug fit- The case fits very snug on the LTE Galaxy Nexus, tight to the point in which it can be difficult to take the case off! But I would rather have it more difficult to take off then to break off it the phone where to take a drop!

2)Strong Protection – As you can tell from the picture the case has a hard white shell as the backbone, which extends over the sides in case of a back or side impact. Another important feature is the lip created over the front of the screen, This makes it possible to set the phone face down while keeping the screen directly off the surface in which it is laying on. Personally I have not yet dropped the phone (nor do i plan to) but I feel as though this case does offer a high level of protection.

3) Grip is an important part to consider when getting a case, too much grip/rubber makes it impossible to get the phone out of your pocket, but not enough makes the phone rather slippery. This case is the perfect mix, It offers rubber grip along the sides of the phone, directly where it is natural to be placing your hands to grip the phone! When I have the case in my hands I always feel as though I maintain a strong grip.

One concern people have been saying in the other reviews is that that supplied micro USB cable does not fit, I am wondering if this is more of a GSM issue as the cable that comes with the LTE phone seems to plug in with the case on no problem!

It is important to know that NO case will be perfect in protecting your phone, if it takes the right bump you phone can be damaged! But something is always better than nothing, and I feel as though the Case-Mate will offer a high value in protecting your phone!

On the side of bulk I do feel that it adds a decent amount of heft to the phone, but nothing in the realm of an otterbox or anything like that. Personally it is the best compromise in size/protection

Great Deal!, February 13, 2012

I purchased this item with free shipping and it arrived super FAST from NY to UT. It’s authentic Samsung OEM in the sealed box with full 1 year warranty. It came with the stock 1850mAh LTE battery and not the 1750mAh GSM battery as some other sellers have incorrectly listed coming with the LTE version of this cradle.

I have the 2100mAh extended battery also and it fits/charges fine. However the lid will not close completely for it’s intended use as a pocket carry case with the extended battery. Mine stays stationary on the desktop anyways so it works well for me. In fact I find I no longer have a need for the extended battery because I always have another stock battery charged up and ready to go. Perfect solution for the power user!

Anyways, I loved the idea so much I just ordered another one to sit on my nightstand at home. I literally never have to plug in to charge again. FREEDOM MY FRIENDS

I highly recommend this item and seller.

I now have three batteries. I am never obligated to have my phone plugged in. I take a spare in my pocket to work and have one ready when I get home. Not much more I can say about this. Buy it.

Good battery, just be sure to wipe battery stats after installing, February 5, 2012

For those having trouble with this battery, the most likely cause is that you haven’t cleared the phone’s “battery stats” after installing, so the phone thinks you still have the old battery. To clear the battery stats, charge the phone up to 100%, boot into Clockworkmod Recovery (you will need to have installed Clockworkmod beforehand) and go to advanced section, and choose “wipe battery stats”. You should get a response that says “battery stats wiped” or something similar. Then choose reboot now, let Android load, and then let the battery drain to 0% until the phone turns off (let it drain normally, don’t try to make it drain faster with flashlight, high cpu usage, etc). Now charge it back to 100%, and the phone should now recognize the new battery and will get the full capacity out of it.

Great Performer, February 2, 2012

With moderate usage, my Nexus now lasts up to two days now with 4G on. I use to have to charge it every night. The battery does do what it claims to do – wish the back was prettier though.

lackluster performance, January 31, 2012

I followed the instructions and let the batter drain completely and then charge for a couple hours past full for the first 5 or so charges and still terrible performance. On the stock 1850 battery i could get about 3 hours on screen time, with the seidio 3800 under the same conditions im lucky to get 4 hours. Definately not worth the buldge or 70 dollars. Im on the cdma galaxy nexus. Its sad because the 15 dollar chinese knock offs for the gsm phones are getting 6+ hours of on screen time.

A very versatile, stylish and functional charger/dock!, October 6, 2011

Honestly, I purchased two of these wondering if they looked better than they functioned and after receiving them and setting them up I found that they are just as functional as they are stylish!

The dock is a simple yet elegant design that holds the phone at about a 65-70 degree angle which is perfect for viewing. The cable included, although only a USB cable and not a DC cable is still very nice, durable and will connect to any DC-USB plug. I picked up a few locally for quite cheap and plugged them in. The base is sturdy and the connection to the phone is snug but the phone does wobble a tad when the base is used. Considering this is a charging and docking base I don’t see this as a major problem. My own phone sits nicely without any case or skin and my wife’s phone which has a snap-on cover still fits well without any issue whatsoever. Another great feature of this affordable dock is that you can sit your phone on it in landscape mode since it offers extra room in front of the micro-usb connection for the phone.

One of the huge benefits over other units is that this one is more “universal” in design meaning you can turn the micro-usb connection around should you need to use it for a phone that has a port facing the opposite direction.

Pros:
Stylish
Sturdy
Stable
Samsung Galaxy SII can fit with or without a case attached
Phone sits nicely in portrait or landscape without any issue
Since the charge/dock unit uses a micro-usb you can pretty much use it with any other phone, not just a Samsung i9100 so this unit will come in handy when you upgrade to a new phone!

Cons:
Only comes with a USB cable and not a DC cable (this is specified in the description but just wanted to mention it)
The connection between the cable and the stand itself is a bit wobbly but not a deal breaker by any means

Perfect for charging, not useful for interaction, December 8, 2011

I was drawn to this dock because it is stylish and not your everyday phone dock. It charges the phone fine but as soon as you want to interact with your phone, it tips over due to the small footprint and the angle of the phone. Some here mentioned that it slides around. Mine has a silicone strip on the back foot that keeps it from sliding but unfortunately it creates a pivot point. When you push on the screen it just tips over. I like the dock enough that I wont send it back but will get a clear or black piece of plastic to glue the dock to that will widen the base and stabilize it.

And as the others mentioned, why the white cord when the rest is black?

EDIT – I did add a 3×5 piece of plexiglass to the dock. I pulled of the silicone strip and super-glued it. I also added 4 low profile silicone feet and now this dock is usable!

Sinjimoru Sync and Charge Dock Stand, October 11, 2011

Noticed a package sitting at my front door last night and found they delivered my Sinjimoru Sync and Charge Dock Stand. After spending a couple minutes attaching the cable to the cradle I found that the phone goes on the cradle very easily. The cradle supports the phone just fine with and without a kickstand case attached. I actually found it a bit more stable / less wobbly with the case on verse mounting it without a case.

Pros:
- Phone goes on very easily using only one hand to mount.
- Supports phone both with and without a case.
- Includes USB cable.
- Charges and syncs just as advertised with a single cable.
- Sharp Looking

Cons:
- Small lightweight base allows it to slide around on desk when pushing/swiping screen.
- Cable takes a little work to mount into cradle when you first set it up.
- Difficult to remove phone from cradle with just 1 hand.
- Phone is a little wobbly/top heavy. again because of the small lightweight base)

Over all I like it for charging and will use it in conjunction with my Alarm Clock App as a nightstand cradle. However for my office, I will be purchasing something that has a little more stability as I use my phone a lot while on the dock.

Phone was not unlocked, January 3, 2011

When we ordered this phone, it was for my daughter who was moving overseas, we needed one that was unlocked as it is easier and cheaper to use the overseas phone service. The phone was advertised as being unlocked….my daughter had to pay 30 euros to have it unlocked when she got to Europe. I was very disappointed and do not recommend buying anything from this person as they are advertising falsely

Unpleasant purchase, August 29, 2011

My purchase has been an upleasant experience from the beginning due to the following reasons:
1. Lack of clarity of the product itself due to misliding information: on the amazon page it was presented as iPhone 3GS and in reality it was iPhone 3G.
2. During initialization the latest release of telephone software from I tunes blocked the phone as not “apple official unlocked iPhone”.
3. As I bring my iPhone to Italy, and return the phone by courrier was diffult I brought the phone for unlocking again to a specialized operator. During the unlocking operation from the serail number it appeared that the iphone was not new but already retured back from the market.
4. After one month of work the screen stopped to work and now it remains dark.
5. I pull back my old phone in operations

iOS updates stop at 4.1.2 and the SSL isn’t secure nor will it be patched by Apple. That means that any connection made over wifi to a secure website (banks, paypal, email, etc) can be intercepted with a simple tool. Only iPhone 3GS and higher are being patched with this major security hole.

Ok..I’ve been using amazon for more than 5 years, and i have probably bought more than 500 items, but this is the first time i spend some minutes to leave a review because it really deserves it..I bought this iphone holder not so confident of what i would receive because there was no feedback at all, i guess it has been just introduced to the market..but i thought, well somebody has to take the risk, i just got it..I have an iphone 4S and my car is a new ford mustang, so i wanted to buy a holder that did not affect the look of my car, in fact, i wanted it to make it look better, and of course safe for my iphone…This holder is the smallest one i have ever seen, it fits the iphone no matter if you have a case on it..like i do, because you can adjust it..then you can move it to any position that you want, and stick it yo your dashboard or your windshield..the iphone is safe no matter how you place it..in my case I wanted to use Siri while driving, of course typing while driving is not an option, but after placing the holder right in fron of my eyes i just have to push the home button and ask siri to read, write or reply any text message that i get..just amazing, i will recommend it to anybody..and to make it clear..I have nothing to do with the seller or company behind it..if I’m doing this is because i want to pay back to all of you that have helped me before with your feedbacks in order to make my choice a lot easier..thanks and good luck

Sleek & Sticks, January 19, 2012

Reading some of the reviews I was a little hesitant at buying because of “suction cup does’t stick”, but for the price, I went for it.
One week old so far and its great! I used the provided plastic “circle” piece with the sticky thing on back to stick to my dashboard, and the suction cup sticks to that. (In NJ, you can get ticketed for having something mounted on your windshield). And for the people who say it doesn’t stick – did you remove the thin piece of plastic off of the suction cup – I almost missed that it was on there – this may be the reason people are complaining.
There was no instructions, but its self exclamatory.
Just barely fits my Samsung/Google Galaxy Nexus (Verizon LTE version)with a case on it – its tight, but fits!
No cons whatsoever.

Breaks easily/ has been corrected by iOttie, January 7, 2012

The ball swivel bracket attaching the phone holder to the mounting base (which must be moved to adjust the phone once you have put the phone into the holder) breaks easily.
It worked fine when first installed, but when the first day below freezing came, caused the swivel to seize up and snap off when used. The unit is worthless without the phone holder connected to the base.

I have contacted the manufacturer and am waiting for their reply as to my request for a replacement.

I received contact from the manufacturer iOttie and they are standing behind their product and sending me a replacement. They stated that they have not had this problem before and have requested the damaged unit to investigate the issue further. I am satisfied with their response.

All previous design errors have been fixed., October 25, 2011

I just got my case and was planning on drilling out the imperfections that one of the other reviews stated. But when I got it, the case had already been redesigned to not cover the noise canceling mic, as well as the vibrate button. I was very happy with that, so just thought I would share in case anyone is hesitant of buying this for those reasons.

Not exactly a perfect design, October 18, 2011

First off, I love this case, but I cannot give it more than 3 stars for the following reasons.

1. The hole that goes over the mute/vibrate switch is out of alignment and it covers part of the switch itself. I can still flip it with relative ease, but cosmetically it looks like it was poorly designed.

2. the hole that goes over the headphone slot covers the 2nd microphone for noise canceling/video recording which could result in poor quality in comparison to an uncovered hole. I simply cut the portion out that covered the 2nd mic near the headphone slot, but it would have looked a lot neater had the case been designed with that in mind. I am attaching pictures to demonstrate what I am talking about.

On the positive side, it is a little thicker of a case than I realized, so the phone is actually a little better protected than I thought it would be. The case also fits the phone very well, not too tight, not too loose. It is exactly the fit I would expect with a case.

(Update)
I failed to mention this is the previous review, but I own the iPhone 4S. After doing a little research, I discovered that the mute/vibrate switch is in a slightly different place.(even though the AT&T sales guy told me that the phones would be identical) This makes a difference when thinking about purchasing this case and how well the case would fit the phone’s switch.

I also should point out another slight qualm with this case. I had a very difficult time getting my tape adapter, and my headphones plugged into the jack on the iPhone 4S because the case comes right up to the hole. Because headphone jacks have some girth around the plug or stem, the rubber came so close to the hole that it was preventing me from comfortably plugging the headphones into the headphone hole on the iPhone 4S. this required me to force the stem into the hole. Needless to say I was a little worried I would screw up something in the phone, so I went to work again and widened the hole in the case near the iPhone 4S headphone hole with my blade knife. It does not look incredibly pretty, but I was able to solve the problem that way.

This case is exactly what I thought it would be and I love it. It is not too thick, but will still protect the phone against short drops and light bumps. The way the elements are adhered to the white base are really good and I don’t think they’ll ever come off. It may be a little funny when it looks like you’re holding a GameBoy up to the side of your head, but that’s exactly why I got it! I was very pleasantly surprised to see mine actually came with the correct branding elements under the screen (if you know what I’m talking about). I hope the copyright police don’t come after me.

The only major problem is the hole in the case for the headphone jack is only big enough for the plug itself. That little hole on the iPhone 4 and 4S that is right next to the headphone jack is the noise cancelling microphone so it’s pretty important to keep it unblocked. I had to cut into the silicone case with a really sharp Xacto knife and make a “V” indentation for the mic. A not too terribly big deal, but I’ll knock a star off for it.
